Hi,

I've been for my next check up with my rheumy nurse today and she has reduced my MTX injections to 20mg per week and introduced leflunomide 10mg a day. Although the MXT has done wonders and I'm lucky I can take it with no side effects, I still have a little niggling pain in hands and feet which they want to get under control. They also want to try to get me off the steroids.

I've also been told after my extra blood tests last week, that I'm B12 deficient Sad

For the first time since being diagnosed in February, I was a little down in the dumps - more medication, more needles Sad I hope it gets under control soon although I know I can not grumble really as a lot of people are worse.

Oh dear Louise,

I'm sorry to hear Little Miss Sunshine is not so bright today.

Take heart in the fact that your nurse is looking after you, she has spotted what can be improved as is doing her
best to help make you as pain free as possible.

I started Leflunomide six weeks ago, I'm still on 10mg daily, and I've had no side effects whatsoever - best drug I've had.
I also take VitB complex as I was also found to be B12 deficient (thats fine now although I shall take it for life), and I've been on steroids the whole time

It is now 16 months since I was diagnosed and I understand the early days are fraught with ups and downs which I can confirmSmile

It will get better and you will be shinning again soon.ThumpUp

Happy Christmas

Hi Louise,

Sorry to hear you're having a bad time. Re feeling down in the dumps, keep a careful eye on that. It's not uncommon, and for some people (like me) can turn into clinical depression. If I were you I would mention it to my GP. Some of the meds we take don't help either

A little update ThumpUp

I'm pleased that after 4 weeks Leflunomide seems to be taking effect ThumpUp My niggling knuckles are feeling a lot better & the pain I had in my jaw has gone! My feet still are a little uncomfortable but I'm hoping there is still room for improvement.

I've been managing more walks with our dog, which us great as extra excise for me & him BigGrin

Half way through my B12 injection booster course so a little bruised but I'm kind of getting used to needles now, lol
